Entrepreneur best TED talks

This has been one of the hardest blog posts I’ve had to write. Not because the material was difficult to come up with–quite the opposite actually. Not because it was technically difficulty–fairly easy to post. It was because I could not share these awesome TED Talks without watching them again!

Ok, you might be asking yourself–“self what is a TED Talk?” If you are a fan of How I Met Your Mother, its not that Ted. Although, he had some great talks. A TED (or Technology, Education, Design) is a platform to allow some of the greatest minds and presenters to share their ideas. If you are an entrepreneur in need of guidance or motivation, they are an excellent source to check out. Id like to share my top 5 for your viewing pleasure (just an FYI it was incredibly tough to just pick 5).

5. Shawn Achor: The happy secret to better work

Favorite quote: “And positive psychology posits that if we study what is merely average, we will remain merely average. “

4. Angela Lee Duckworth: The key to success? Grit

Favorite quote: “Grit is living life like a marathon not a sprint”

3. Dan Pink: The puzzle of motivation

Favorite quote: “Too many organizations are making their decisions, their policies about talen and people, based on assumptions that are outdated, unexamined and rooted more in fork-lore than in science.”

2. Nigel Marsh: How to make work-life balance work

Favorite quote: ” It’s up to us as individuals to take control and responsibility for the type of lives that we want to lead. If you don’t design your life, someone else will design it for you, and you may just not like their idea of balance.”

1. Simon Sinek: How great leaders inspire action

Favorite quote: “The goal is not just to sell to people who need what you have; the goal is to sell to people who believe what you believe. The goal is not just to hire people who need a job; it’s to hire people who believe what you believe. I always say that, you know, if you hire people just because they can do a job, they’ll work for your money, but if they believe what you believe, they’ll work for you with blood and sweat and tears.”

Bonus quote: “People don’t buy what you do; they buy why you do it. If you talk about what you believe, you will attract those who believe what you believe.”

What did you think of my list? Did I miss any of your favorites? Want to check out more? I strongly recommend you visit http://www.ted.com and explore!
